Abstract

With the desktop replacement effect accelerating, the global mobile PC market, comprising notebook and netbook PC segments, saw double-digit growth rates in the period 2005-2009 and the growth momentum is expected to continue into 2010. Since the netbook PC competition triggered by the launch of Asus Eee PC in the fourth quarter of 2007, major brand-name PC vendors have made aggressively inroads into this new segment. Of all brands, netbook PCs shipped by Acer and Asus take up the majority share of the total netbook PC shipment, firming their market dominance in this area. Fuelled by netbook PC shipments, Acer and Asus' mobile PC products continue to see gains in market share. This report analyzes the product strategies and pricing strategies and distribution systems used by Acer and Asus.
